Blacksn0w will unlock iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS, if you are an iPhone 2G user then Geohot has provided the following instructions: If you are on a 2G iPhone, blacksn0w isn't an option for you. But BootNeuter is, a completely free permanent unlock for your 2G. Of course, blackra1n will work great, and even hacktivate for you. Geohot recommends: Clean firmware 3.1.2 and baseband 05.11.07 are recommended. You can install blacksn0w on your iPhone to unlock it using blackra1n. You can download the latest version of blackra1n fromthis link. Update: Geohot has also release blacksn0w via Cydia. To install it on your iPhone, add blackra1n.com as repository. Please remember hacking your iPhone could void its warranty. So please proceed with caution and at your own risk. It is always a good idea to take a backup of your iPhone before you hack it, refer to this post for more details. If the solutions works for you, don’t forget to drop over at the blackra1n’s website to give Geohot a donation for all his hard work. As always, if you give it a shot let us know how it goes.
Thank you (RJSummons18) for submitting this request to us!!! AWESOME FIND!!!
A couple of us were looking around in Cydia over the past few days, when we stumbled across a couple programs we thought would be pretty cool to test out!
So, this is how we did it ...
First off, we're using a 16gb iPhone 3G, running 3.0 firmware, jailbroken & unlocked for T-Mobile , and also, a 16gb iPhone 3G, running 3.0 firmware, jailbroken for AT&T, and we downloaded (Tricker ThreeG) and (VoIPover3G) through Cydia, and went from there!
We signed up with iCall (free calling over wi-fi), downloaded Fring (through app store) and Skype (through app store), and found out that , by using (Tricker ThreeG and VoIPover3G), we could make calls over T-Mobile's EDGE network, and also, AT&T's 3G network...
T-Mobile's EDGE network is EXTREMELY horrible when you're making VoIP calls over it, but it works!! , there's just SO MUCH lag, and it's very crackly on the other person's end... BUT, if you're out of minutes, and need to make a call.... this is the way to go!!!
On the other hand, AT&T's 3G network is AMAZING for VoIP calling, and we found that Skype is the best quality calling you can possibly get when it comes to (Cellular Data Networks), versus Fring and iCall (iCall coming in 2nd place), and we used Fring with (VoIPStunt)...
With AT&T's 3G network, we were constantly at a reasonable talking level, and neither us, nor the other party had any trouble hearing eachother... SO, we've decided to cut back on how many minutes we're getting through AT&T, (going from 900 to 400), and instead, we'll be using Skype for most of our calls from now on (as we're almost ALWAYS in 3G).
You can download these programs through Cydia, then restart your iPhone, and download Skype through the app store, but make sure you have a skype account before you download the app!! It's about $3.00 a month for UNLIMITED calling, and I (and 3 other guys) are saving roughly $25 a month by using this option!!
You can CLICK HERE to sign up with Skype and test it out for yourself!!!
Definitely an AWESOME find !!!
Cydia has released a new hack, which allows you to have 5 columns (that's 5 icons across), on your iPhone's springboard.
Well everyone, I haven't been around in a little while, but "personal stuff" is over now, so I'm here to stay.
SBSettings 1.0 has been released with many new updates, and a redesigned interface, allowing the user to *theme* their own SBSettings into what they want.
It looks like the Bluetooth feature is almost unlocked for the iPhone, according to the guys at ispazio.net. They recieved an e-mail from a guy claiming to have a project ongoing to unlock the Bluetooth of their iPhone, and then release to public once the bugs are worked out!
BigBoss and Ipodtouchmaster released v0.91 of SBSettings on Cydia for download earlier today.
Now, you'll want to search the internet for SIP Providers to use over your 3G/Edge connection, and find the one that suits you best!!.. I personally love Skype because it doesn't lag, and sounds just as good, if not better than my T-mobile Voice did!!
Sign up for an SIP Provider/Skype/Truphone, and then download Fring/Truphone onto your iPhone via App Store. You should be able to link your SIP/Skype to Fring, and Truphone is self-explanatory!!
Whether you're using T-Mobile / AT&T / Cingular ... or any other GSM network that uses the EDGE network, you're in luck .... because your iPhone has the capability to make calls using that cheap internet connection !!!
4. Signup with a voip provider (Skype is by far the best !!)
--- You can signup with Skype by CLICKING HERE , it's $2.95 a month for 10,000 minutes!!
5. Download the (Skype) app through the App Store
6. Open the App , enter your account information, from when you signed up..
7. You're all set to use Voip over EDGE using an iPhone !!!
That's it ! Now, you officially have 10,000 minutes a month .... for only $2.95 a month!!! , AND, when you're in wi-fi ... you can use Skype to make calls, and save your t-mobile or at&t minutes!
