Recently, we decided to try and cut back on costs (when it comes to CELL PHONE bills), so we optimized our T-Mobile bills, as much as humanly possible !!!

First off, make sure your iPhone is Jailbroken , and Unlocked ... and then we'll get rolling !!!

T-Mobile has (Unlimited Minutes) plans, for $149.99 a month ... and they also have 2500 anytime minutes / 1800 anytime minutes ... but they're still pricey!!! You're looking at OVER $90 a month, just for VOICE !!

Here's how we optimized our T-Mobile bills :::

1. Signed up with the $69.99 , 1000 anytime minutes, free nights & weekends, free mobile 2 mobile plan ... (includes 2 lines)

2. Called into customer support, after a few representatives, we had them add 5 myfaves FOR FREE, to each line, because we have been t-mobile customers for more than 10 months (doesn't work with new customers)

3. After talking to MANY representatives.... we finally got the $5.99 t-zones internet plan added to the account (which is unlimited internet access, instead of paying $34.99 a month!!) Now, we set our APN to : epc.tmobile.com / or / wap.voicestream.com , either works!!! And, you still get google maps / email / and full web browsing !!!

4. Now, after 3 or 4 days of calling, we had told a representative that we wanted to switch to Verizon, so they immediately transferred us to Customer Account Specialists, where they added UNLIMITED texting for families, for $9.99 !!!

5. Signed up with Skype (click here to signup !!!, it's only $2.95 a month for 10,000 minutes!!!), and downloaded the iPhone app, through the app store.. Now, whenever we're in Wi-Fi, we can make FREE calls !!! (there's wi-fi EVERYWHERE!!)

6. Downloaded (voipover3g, and tricker3g) through Cydia ... restarted iPhone's, and now Skype works over EDGE (not that great of call quality, but it still works!!!)

7. Signed up with Google Voice (takes about a week to get invited into Google Voice), set google voice number as myfave (unlimited incoming, and outgoing calls... for FREE!!!)



Now, we officially have :
- $69.99 a month / 1000 minutes / 2 lines / unlimited Myfaves minutes / unlimited nights & weekends / unlimited mobile 2 mobile
- $FREE / set Google Voice number as one of our MYFAVES numbers = unlimited calls
- $5.99 a month / unlimited internet
- $9.99 a month / unlimited texting for families
- $2.95 a month / unlimited calling with Skype (click here to signup)
- 12% AAA Discount with T-Mobile

So basically, Unlimited calls, Unlimited Texting, Unlimited Internet....
All for $75.47 a MONTH!!!

Since all of us ALREADY have wifi at home, we were even thinking about going from the 1000 minute family plan to the 700 minute family plan, and saving $10 a month!!! Skype is actually faster than the real dialer (on the iPhone), and it's only $2.95 a month for 10,000 minutes !!!

A couple of us were looking around in Cydia over the past few days, when we stumbled across a couple programs we thought would be pretty cool to test out!

So, this is how we did it ...

First off, we're using a 16gb iPhone 3G, running 3.0 firmware, jailbroken & unlocked for T-Mobile , and also, a 16gb iPhone 3G, running 3.0 firmware, jailbroken for AT&T, and we downloaded (Tricker ThreeG) and (VoIPover3G) through Cydia, and went from there!

We signed up with iCall (free calling over wi-fi), downloaded Fring (through app store) and Skype (through app store), and found out that , by using (Tricker ThreeG and VoIPover3G), we could make calls over T-Mobile's EDGE network, and also, AT&T's 3G network...

T-Mobile's EDGE network is EXTREMELY horrible when you're making VoIP calls over it, but it works!! , there's just SO MUCH lag, and it's very crackly on the other person's end... BUT, if you're out of minutes, and need to make a call.... this is the way to go!!!

On the other hand, AT&T's 3G network is AMAZING for VoIP calling, and we found that Skype is the best quality calling you can possibly get when it comes to (Cellular Data Networks), versus Fring and iCall (iCall coming in 2nd place), and we used Fring with (VoIPStunt)...

With AT&T's 3G network, we were constantly at a reasonable talking level, and neither us, nor the other party had any trouble hearing eachother... SO, we've decided to cut back on how many minutes we're getting through AT&T, (going from 900 to 400), and instead, we'll be using Skype for most of our calls from now on (as we're almost ALWAYS in 3G).

You can download these programs through Cydia, then restart your iPhone, and download Skype through the app store, but make sure you have a skype account before you download the app!! It's about $3.00 a month for UNLIMITED calling, and I (and 3 other guys) are saving roughly $25 a month by using this option!!
